Shigeru Saiki

Shigeru Saiki (斉木しげる) is a Japanese actor born on November 18, 1949, in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He is an alumnus of Waseda University and has built an extensive career spanning television dramas, feature films, and television movies.

Early Life and Education

Shigeru Saiki was born in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on November 18, 1949. He pursued higher education at Waseda University in Tokyo, where he graduated before embarking on his professional acting career.

Acting Career

Throughout his career, Saiki has appeared in numerous Japanese films and television series, often taking on diverse supporting and character roles. His film credits include appearances in Takashi Miike's thriller Audition (1999), Stereo Future (2001), Ghost Train (2006), Happily Ever After (2007), and the two-part drama March Comes in Like a Lion and March Goes out Like a Lamb (2017) directed by Keishi Otomo, where he portrayed the character Sakutaro Yanagihara.

In addition to cinema, Saiki has maintained an active presence in Japanese television dramas (dorama) and television movies, making guest and recurring appearances across various networks including NHK, TV Asahi, Fuji TV, and TV Tokyo.
