Shadow Detective
Shadow Detective (Korean: 형사록; RR: Hyungsarok) is a South Korean crime thriller television series that premiered on Disney+ in 2022. Directed by Han Dong-hwa and written by Im Chang-se, the series follows the story of a veteran detective who becomes entangled in a psychological game with an anonymous individual.
Plot
Kim Taek-rok (played by Lee Sung-min) is a seasoned detective at the Geumo Police Station nearing his retirement. His life takes a drastic turn when he receives a series of mysterious phone calls from a person claiming to be an old friend. The caller alleges responsibility for the murder of Kim's colleague, Woo Hyun-seok, and frames Kim for the crime. As Kim becomes the primary suspect, he must navigate a complex investigation into his own past to uncover the truth. He is joined by Kook Jin-han (Jin Goo), a newly transferred chief of the investigation squad, along with detectives Lee Sung-a (Kyung Soo-jin) and Son Kyung-chan (Lee Hak-joo).
Production and Release
The series consists of eight episodes and was released on Disney+ between October 26 and November 16, 2022. It was followed by a second season, Shadow Detective 2, which aired in 2023.
