Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted is a South Korean film directed by Im Sun-Ae. The project is based on the 2012 novel Silyeondanghan Saramdeuleul Wihan Ilgob Shi Jochanmoim written by Baek Young-Ok. The film is scheduled for a winter 2025 release.
Plot
The narrative centers on a group of individuals who gather at 7:00 a.m. to share their experiences with heartbreak. Among the attendees are Sa-Gang (Bae Suzy), a flight attendant who navigates the aftermath of a relationship with a pilot named Jeong-Su (Yoo Ji-Tae), and Ji-Hun (Lee Jin-Uk), a professional consultant instructor dealing with the end of a long-term relationship with a teacher named Hyeon-Jeong (Keum Sae-Rok). The film explores how these characters process their grief and find support through their shared morning meetings.
Production
The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Baek Young-Ok, which was published on July 3, 2012, by Jaeum&Moeum. Principal photography for the production commenced on December 29, 2024.
