Sector 7 (2011 Film)
Sector 7 (Korean: 7광구) is a 2011 South Korean action-horror film directed by Kim Ji-hun. The production, which incorporates 3D technology, centers on a group of workers stationed on an oil rig platform located south of Jeju Island who encounter a deadly creature.

Plot
The story follows Hae-joon (Ha Ji-won), an equipment manager working on an oil rig. The crew is led by Captain Ahn Jung-man (Ahn Sung-ki), who oversees the platform's operations. After a series of mysterious deaths occur among the crew, they discover that an unidentified creature has infiltrated the rig, forcing them to fight for their survival.
Production
The project was produced by JK Film and CJ Entertainment. While Yun Je-gyun was initially slated to direct, he ultimately served as a producer due to scheduling conflicts, with Kim Ji-hun taking over as director. Principal photography commenced in mid-June 2010.

Prior to the film's release, the production team addressed technical concerns raised during a press preview on July 26, 2011. Viewers reported issues with screen darkness, particularly when viewed through 3D glasses, and sound quality. In response, the production company implemented revisions to improve visual brightness and sound mixing before the general theatrical release.

Release and Distribution
Sector 7 was released in South Korea on August 4, 2011. In the domestic market, approximately 60% of screens showed the film in 2D, while 40% utilized 3D projection. The film was sold to 46 countries, including markets in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
