Scars (2011 South Korean Film)

Scars (Korean: 흉터; RR: Hyungteo) is a 2011 South Korean drama film directed by Lim Woo-Seong. The film explores the complex emotional dynamics between its two central characters, a perfectionist news anchor named Sang-Hyup and a children's book illustrator named Sung-Hee.

Background and Production

The screenplay for Scars was written by director Lim Woo-Seong in collaboration with author Han Kang. The narrative is adapted from the short story Agi Bucheo (Baby Buddha), which is featured in Han Kang's collection Nae YeoJaui Yeolmae (My Woman's Fruit). The film was produced by Kim Ho-Se, with cinematography by Kang Dae-Hee.

Release and Festivals

Scars was released in South Korea on October 13, 2011, with a runtime of 65 minutes. Prior to its domestic release, the film was screened at the 59th San Sebastian International Film Festival, held in September 2011, where it was featured in the Zabaltegi-New Directors section.
