Sacred Divorce

Sacred Divorce (Korean: 신성한, 이혼; RR: Shinsunghan, Yihon) is a South Korean television series that aired on JTBC from March 4 to April 9, 2023. The 12-episode drama follows the story of Shin Sung-Han, a former music professor who transitions into a career as a divorce attorney to uncover the truth behind a personal tragedy.

Background

The series is based on the webcomic Shinsunghan, Yihon by Kang Tae-Kyung, which was published on the Kakao platform from September 10, 2019, to August 31, 2021. The television adaptation was written by Yoo Young-A and directed by Lee Jae-Hoon.

Plot

Shin Sung-Han (played by Cho Seung-Woo) was once a piano professor at a university in Germany. After receiving shocking news regarding his family, he returns to South Korea and pursues a career in law. As a divorce lawyer, he represents clients dealing with complex and unfortunate personal circumstances. While navigating these legal battles, he systematically approaches the truth he has been seeking since his return.

Production

Sacred Divorce occupied the Saturday and Sunday 22:30 time slot on JTBC. It followed the conclusion of the drama Agency and was succeeded by Doctor Cha on April 15, 2023.
