Rosebud (2019 South Korean Film)
Rosebud (Korean: 그대 이름은 장미; RR: Geudae Ireumeun Jangmi) is a 2019 South Korean comedy-drama film directed by Jo Seok-Hyun. The film explores the life of Hong Jang-Mi, a woman who sacrifices her dreams of becoming an idol after an unexpected pregnancy in her youth, eventually navigating life as a devoted single mother.
Plot
The narrative follows Hong Jang-Mi across two time periods. In her youth, portrayed by Ha Yeon-Soo, she is an aspiring singer who faces a life-altering decision when she becomes pregnant. Years later, as a middle-aged woman played by Yoo Ho-Jeong, she is a dedicated but often overbearing mother to her daughter, Hyun-A (Chae Soo-Bin). Her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters her former boyfriend, Myung-Hwan (Park Sung-Woong), and reconnects with Soon-Chul (Oh Jung-Se), the father of her daughter.
Production
The film was directed by Jo Seok-Hyun and written by Hong Eun-Mi and Jo Seok-Hyun. Principal photography for the project commenced on January 29, 2016, and concluded on April 30, 2016. It was distributed by Little Big Pictures and released in South Korea on January 16, 2019.
