Romance Is a Bonus Book (Korean: 로맨스는 별책부록; RR: Romaenseuneun Byulchaekboorok) is a South Korean television series that aired on the cable network tvN in 2019. The series, which was originally developed under the working title How To Publish Love, consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays at 21:00 KST from January 26 to March 17, 2019.

Plot

The story follows the professional and personal lives of individuals working at a book publishing company. Cha Eun-ho (played by Lee Jong-suk) is a successful writer and the youngest chief editor in the history of his firm. He is characterized by his intelligence, composure, and warm personality. His life intersects with Kang Dan-yi (played by Lee Na-young), a former copywriter who, despite her impressive professional background and education, struggles to find employment due to a gap in her career. To secure a job, she eventually misrepresents her qualifications to join the publishing house where Eun-ho works. As they navigate their professional challenges, their relationship evolves into a romantic one.

Production

The series was directed by Lee Jung-hyo and written by Jung Hyun-jung. The initial script reading for the cast took place on October 26, 2018, in the Sangam neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea. The series occupied the Saturday and Sunday 21:00 time slot on tvN, succeeding Memories of the Alhambra and preceding the series Confession.
