Revivre (2014 Film)
Revivre (Korean: 화장; RR: Hwajang) is a 2014 South Korean drama film directed by the veteran filmmaker Im Kwon-taek. The film is based on a short story by Kim Hoon and examines the psychological state of a middle-aged man navigating the complexities of loss, duty, and repressed desire.

Plot
The narrative centers on Mr. Oh (played by Ahn Sung-ki), a high-ranking executive at a major cosmetics company. As his wife endures a long, terminal battle with cancer, Mr. Oh maintains the appearance of a devoted and patient husband. Following his wife's death, he finds himself reflecting on his life and his marriage. During this period of mourning, he becomes increasingly preoccupied with a younger colleague, Choo Eun-joo (Kim Gyu-ri), revealing a hidden internal conflict between his sense of obligation and his burgeoning romantic interest.

Production
Directed by Im Kwon-taek, Revivre was produced by Lee Eun and Shim Jae-myung. The film's cinematography was handled by Kim Hyung-koo. The production captures the somber atmosphere of the protagonist's domestic life contrasted with the professional environment of the cosmetics industry.

Release and Festivals
The film held its world premiere at the 71st Venice Film Festival in 2014, where it was screened out of competition. It subsequently appeared at several international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival, and the Hawaii International Film Festival. The film was released theatrically in South Korea on April 9, 2015.
