Reunited Worlds

Reunited Worlds (Korean: 다시 만난 세계; RR: Dashi Mannan Segye) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from July 19 to September 21, 2017. The series was directed by Baek Soo-Chan and written by Lee Hee-Myung, spanning 40 episodes in total.

Plot

The story follows Sung Hae-Sung (played by Yeo Jin-Goo), a high school student who lives with his grandmother and four younger siblings. Despite his academic potential, he plans to attend culinary school to support his family. His life is abruptly cut short when he is involved in a fatal car accident after visiting his school to retrieve a wallet for his close friend, Jung Jung-Won (Lee Yeon-Hee).

Twelve years after his death, Hae-Sung mysteriously reappears on the roof of his former high school, finding himself in the year 2017. Upon returning to his family home, he discovers that his life and his family have moved on in his absence. He eventually reconnects with Jung-Won, who is now 31 years old and working as a kitchen assistant, while struggling with the lingering grief of his death. The narrative explores their reunion as Hae-Sung attempts to navigate a world that has changed significantly during his twelve-year absence.

Production

The series held its first script reading on June 22, 2017, at the SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyun, South Korea. Principal photography commenced shortly thereafter on June 24, 2017. The drama occupied the Wednesday and Thursday 22:00 time slot on SBS, following the conclusion of Suspicious Partner and preceding While You Were Sleeping.
