Rain and Your Story

Rain and Your Story (Korean: 비와 당신의 이야기; RR: Biwa Dangshinui Yiyagi) is a 2021 South Korean romance drama film directed by Jo Jin-mo. The film explores themes of connection, patience, and personal growth through an epistolary narrative set against the backdrop of the early 2000s.

Plot

The story follows Young-ho (played by Kang Ha-neul), a young man who lacks a clear sense of direction or ambition. After spending three years preparing for university entrance exams, he decides to write a letter to a childhood friend named So-yeon. The letter is intercepted by So-yeon's younger sister, So-hee (played by Chun Woo-hee), who is currently managing a secondhand bookstore with her mother while caring for her ailing sister. So-hee begins writing back to Young-ho, pretending to be So-yeon, leading to an exchange that shapes both of their lives.

Production

The film was directed by Jo Jin-mo with a screenplay written by Yoo Sung-hyub. Principal photography for the production commenced on March 23, 2020, and concluded on July 4, 2020. The film was released in South Korea on April 28, 2021, with a total runtime of 117 minutes.
