Queen Woo

Queen Woo (Korean: 우씨왕후) is a South Korean historical drama series directed by Jung Se-Kyo and written by Lee Byeong-Hak. The series, which consists of eight episodes, premiered on the streaming platform TVING in 2024, with its release split into two parts in August and September.

Plot

The narrative centers on Woo Hee, the empress of the ancient kingdom of Goguryeo. Following the sudden death of her husband, King Go Nam-Mu, the kingdom descends into a chaotic power struggle. Woo Hee becomes the primary target of various princes and the five tribes, all of whom seek to seize control of the throne. To secure her position and protect her family and tribe, the empress utilizes the custom of levirate marriage, attempting to marry one of her late husband's younger brothers to ensure the continuity of the royal line. The entire conflict unfolds within a high-stakes 24-hour timeframe.
