Production and Plot

Directed by Lee Tae-gon and written by Jung Ha-yeon, the drama focuses on the power struggles within the royal court during the transition of power from King Moonjong to his successors. The narrative centers on the ambition of Han Jung (later Queen Insu), the daughter of a high-ranking official, who aspires to become the most powerful woman in the kingdom. Her path crosses with Prince Sooyang, who harbors his own ambitions for the throne, and other figures whose lives are shaped by the rigid hierarchy and political volatility of the era.

The series depicts the complex, often tragic relationships between the royal family members and the women who navigate the dangers of the palace. It highlights the historical context of the Joseon Dynasty, including the influence of the Ming Dynasty and the internal conflicts among the royal princes.
