Punch (2014 South Korean TV Series)

Punch (Korean: 펀치; RR: Punchi) is a South Korean television series that aired on SBS from December 15, 2014, to February 17, 2015. The drama, which consists of 19 episodes, was directed by Lee Myung-woo and written by Park Kyung-soo. It occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:55 time slot.

Plot

The story follows Park Jung-hwan (Kim Rae-won), the chief of the anti-corruption investigation team at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. Throughout his career, Jung-hwan has frequently compromised his principles to advance his position. His life changes abruptly when he is diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, leaving him with a limited amount of time to live. Faced with his mortality, he seeks to rectify his past actions and bring down the corrupt Public Prosecutor General, Lee Tae-joon (Cho Jae-hyun). He is assisted in his quest by his ex-wife, Shin Ha-gyung (Kim A-joong), who is also a prosecutor.

Production

The production held its first script reading on October 31, 2014, at the SBS Production Center in Ilsan, South Korea. The series replaced Secret Door in its time slot and was followed by Heard It Through the Grapevine.
