Promise Cinderella is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the TBS network from July 13 to September 14, 2021. The series is based on the webcomic of the same name written and illustrated by Oreko Tachibana, which began serialization on the Manga One platform in 2018.

Plot

The story follows Hayame Katsuragi, an ordinary housewife whose life is upended when her husband abruptly requests a divorce, revealing he has fallen for another woman. Following the separation, Hayame finds herself homeless after being pickpocketed. While struggling to survive, she encounters Issei Kataoka, a wealthy high school student who proposes a game. He offers her a place to stay on the condition that she participates in his challenges.

Production and Cast

The drama was directed by Shosuke Murakami, Junichi Tsuzuki, and Shinichi Kitabo, with a screenplay by Kazunao Furuya. The series features a large ensemble cast, including Fumi Nikaido as Hayame Katsuragi and Gordon Maeda as Issei Kataoka. Takanori Iwata portrays Seigo Kataoka, while veteran actress Yoshiko Mita plays Etsuko Kataoka.

Broadcast and Reception

The series occupied the Tuesday 22:00 time slot on TBS, succeeding Why I Dress Up For Love and preceding Only Just Married. Throughout its ten-episode run, the show recorded an average viewership rating of 7.9% in the Kanto region, with the final episode achieving a series-high rating of 9.6%.
