Petty Romance (2010 Film)

Petty Romance (Korean: 쩨쩨한 로맨스; RR: Jjae Jjae Han Romaenseu) is a 2010 South Korean romantic comedy film directed by Kim Jung-Hoon. The film centers on the collaborative efforts of two individuals attempting to win a lucrative adult cartoon contest.

Plot

The story follows Da-Rim (Choi Gang-Hee), a woman who works as a translator for an adult magazine and aspires to become a writer. Her creative tendencies often lead to professional errors, resulting in her termination. She crosses paths with Jung-Bae (Lee Sun-Kyun), a talented cartoonist who struggles to find success because his storylines are consistently rejected by publishers. The two decide to collaborate on an adult cartoon contest that offers a prize of 130 million won.

Production and Release

Filming for Petty Romance commenced in July 2010. The film was released in South Korea on December 2, 2010, and was distributed by Lotte Entertainment. During its opening weekend (December 3–5, 2010), the film reached number one at the Korean box office, selling 465,629 tickets across 563 screens and accounting for 37.1% of all tickets sold during that period.
