Operation Chromite (Korean: 인천상륙작전; RR: Incheonsangryookjakjun) is a 2016 South Korean war film directed by John H. Lee. The film dramatizes the historical events surrounding the Battle of Incheon during the Korean War, specifically focusing on the covert intelligence mission known as Operation X-Ray.

Plot

The narrative centers on General Douglas MacArthur, portrayed by Liam Neeson, as he orchestrates the strategic Incheon Landing. To ensure the success of the amphibious invasion, a team of South Korean naval intelligence officers, led by a lieutenant played by Lee Jung-Jae, infiltrates the city of Incheon under the guise of a North Korean inspection unit. Their mission, codenamed Operation X-Ray, involves gathering critical intelligence on North Korean defenses to prepare for the Allied landing.

Production

The film was produced by Taewon Entertainment and distributed by CJ Entertainment. Principal photography for the production commenced on December 4, 2015, and concluded on March 10, 2016. The film was released in South Korea on July 27, 2016, with a total runtime of 110 minutes.
