Omniscient Reader (2025 Film)

Omniscient Reader is a South Korean fantasy film directed by Kim Byung-Woo. The film is an adaptation of the web novel Jeonjijeok Dokja Shijeom, written by Sing Shong and originally serialized on Naver starting in 2018. The production is distributed by Lotte Cultureworks and features a runtime of 117 minutes.

Plot

The story follows Kim Dok-Ja, an ordinary office worker who is the sole reader of an obscure, long-running fantasy web novel titled Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World. When the world suddenly transforms into the reality of the novel he has finished reading, Dok-Ja finds himself uniquely prepared for the ensuing apocalypse. He encounters the novel's protagonist, Yoo Joong-Hyeok, a skilled fighter with the ability to return to life after death. Together, they navigate the dangerous new world to ensure its survival.

Production

Principal photography for the film commenced on December 5, 2023, and concluded in May 2024. The film is scheduled for release on July 23, 2025.
