Nukarumi no Shokutaku
Nukarumi no Shokutaku (Japanese: 泥濘の食卓), also known by the English title Muddy Dining Table, is a Japanese television drama series that aired on TV Asahi. The series consists of nine episodes and was broadcast from October 21 to December 16, 2023, in the Saturday 23:30–24:00 time slot.
Background and Production
The drama is based on the webcomic of the same name by the author Inako, which began serialization in November 2020 via ututu. The television adaptation was directed by Mari Asato and Kyoya Kakuda. The screenplay was written by a team including Yasuko Kuramitsu, Yu Kanda, and Mari Asato.
Plot
The story follows Mia Nejiki, a young woman struggling with low self-esteem stemming from a history of domestic abuse by her father and ongoing emotional suppression by her mother. Working as a supermarket clerk, Mia enters into an affair with her manager. When the manager abruptly ends the relationship, citing his wife's worsening depression, Mia becomes desperate to win him back. In an attempt to restore her own happiness, she decides to intervene in the manager's family life by attempting to cure his wife's depression.
