Nobuhiro Yamashita: Japanese Film Director and Filmmaker

Nobuhiro Yamashita (山下敦弘, born August 29, 1976) is a prominent Japanese film director. Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, he pursued his education at the Osaka University of Arts, where he built foundational skills in filmmaking and visual arts.

Directing Career

Yamashita has directed a diverse array of feature films and television drama series. His notable cinematic works include Linda Linda Linda (2005), A Gentle Breeze in the Village (2007), My Back Page (2011), La La La At Rock Bottom (2015), Over the Fence (2016), My Missing Valentine (2023), and Let's Go Karaoke! (2024). In addition to feature films, he has directed episodes for acclaimed television series such as Midnight Diner and Kotaki Brothers and Shikuhakku (2020).

Acting and Production Work

Beyond his primary role as a director, Yamashita has occasionally made cameo and minor acting appearances in Japanese films and television programs, including Fish Story (2009) and Moteki (2010). He also served as a producer for the project Waiting for You (2016).

Accolades

In December 2007, Yamashita received the Best Director award at the 32nd Hochi Film Awards for his work on A Gentle Breeze in the Village and The Matsugane Potshot Affair.
