Night People (2013 Film)

Night People (Japanese: ナイトピープル) is a Japanese crime thriller film released on January 26, 2013. Directed by Hajime Kadoi, the film features a screenplay by Takehiko Minato, adapted from the short story "Tokai no Yajuu" by author Go Osaka.

Plot

The narrative centers on Shinji, played by Kazuki Kitamura, who operates a bar. His life is disrupted by the arrival of Moeko, portrayed by Eriko Sato. Moeko is revealed to have previously stolen 200 million yen from a member of the National Assembly. This act of theft triggers a high-stakes conflict involving Shinji, Moeko, Detective Sone (Tetta Sugimoto), and a criminal gang, all of whom become entangled in the pursuit of the stolen funds.

Production

Night People is based on the short story "Tokai no Yajuu," which was originally published in the collection Jojo Kanteinin by Go Osaka in May 2004, released by Bungeishunju Ltd. The film has a runtime of 90 minutes and was distributed by Uzumasa.
