New Tales of the Gisaeng

New Tales of the Gisaeng (Korean: 신기생뎐) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from January 23 to July 17, 2011. The series consists of 52 episodes and was broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays at 22:00. The show was written by Im Sung-Han and directed by Son Moon-Kwon and Lee Young-Hee.

Plot

The narrative centers on the lives, romantic entanglements, and personal struggles of individuals associated with Buyongkak, an exclusive gisaeng house that caters to high-profile clients. The story follows Dan Sa-Ran, a talented dance major from a modest background who maintains her dignity despite her financial circumstances. Her life intersects with Ah Da-Mo, a man undergoing business administration training at his father's company. Da-Mo is characterized by his arrogance and dismissive attitude toward women, but his perspective begins to shift after he meets Sa-Ran. The plot explores the complexities of their relationship as Sa-Ran is encouraged to become a gisaeng.
