National Singing Contest (2013 Film)
National Singing Contest (Korean: 전국노래자랑; RR: Jeonguk Norae Jarang) is a 2013 South Korean comedy-drama film directed by Lee Jong-Pil. The film explores the lives of various individuals in the city of Gimhae as they prepare to audition for the popular television program of the same name.

Plot
The narrative follows an ensemble cast, each with unique motivations for entering the televised singing competition. Bong-Nam (Kim In-Kwon) is an aspiring singer who balances his time working at his wife's hair salon and as a personal driver. His ambition to perform is met with resistance from his wife, Mi-Ae (Ryoo Hyoun-Kyoung), who encourages him to pursue a stable career as a hairdresser. Meanwhile, other residents of Gimhae, including a local government official and a young woman hoping to impress a colleague, navigate their own personal challenges while preparing for the event.

Production
The film is inspired by the long-running South Korean television program Korea Sings (National Singing Contest), which has been broadcast on KBS1 since 1980. Principal photography for the film commenced in November 2012. The project was written and produced by Lee Kyoung-Kyu, with cinematography by Kim Jong-Sun.
