Naomi Tamura (Japanese Director)

Naomi Tamura (Japanese: 田村直己) is a Japanese television and film director widely known for his extensive work with TV Asahi, directing numerous high-profile television drama series, television films, and theatrical motion pictures.

Career and Major Works

Naomi Tamura has built a prolific career directing serial dramas and movies primarily for TV Asahi. One of his most notable recurring collaborations is on the highly successful medical drama series Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon, for which he has directed multiple seasons (including seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) as well as television specials and the 2024 theatrical feature film Gekijoban Doctor-X.

In addition to the Doctor-X franchise, Tamura has directed various other popular drama series and films, such as Seven Secretaries (2020) and its 2022 movie adaptation, Roppongi Class (2022), Legal Enforcement with Dogs (2023), SKY Castle (2024), and Ameku Takao's Detective Karte (2025).
