Naeil's Cantabile
Naeil's Cantabile (Korean: 내일도 칸타빌레) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on KBS2 from October 13 to December 2, 2014. The series consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast on Monday and Tuesday nights. It is an adaptation of the Japanese manga series Nodame Cantabile, written by Tomoko Ninomiya.
Plot
The story follows Cha Yoo-jin (Joo Won), a talented piano major at a university who aspires to become a conductor. Despite his musical gifts and background as the son of a world-famous pianist, Yoo-jin is hindered by a childhood trauma that prevents him from traveling by airplane or boat, effectively blocking his path to study conducting in Europe. His life changes when he encounters Seol Nae-il (Shim Eun-kyung), a quirky and talented fellow piano student who lives next door. Nae-il develops a romantic interest in Yoo-jin and begins to influence his rigid approach to music, eventually leading him to embrace a more expressive style of performance.
Production
The production of Naeil's Cantabile began with a script reading on August 23, 2014, at the KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido. Filming commenced on September 10, 2014, in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, with initial scenes focusing on the university campus setting. The series occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:55 time slot on KBS2, following the conclusion of Discovery of Love and preceding Healer.
