My Wife Got Married (Korean: 아내가 결혼했다; RR: Anaega Gyeolhon Haeta) is a 2008 South Korean romantic comedy film directed by Jung Yoon-soo. The film is based on the novel of the same name by author Park Hyun-wook.

Plot

The story follows Noh Deok-hoon, who falls in love with Joo In-ah, a woman who shares his intense passion for football. After a period of courtship, the two marry. Their marital life takes an unexpected turn when In-ah expresses a desire to marry another man. She maintains that she still loves Deok-hoon, but wishes to enter a second marriage without divorcing her first husband. The film explores the resulting unconventional domestic arrangement.

Production and Release

The film was produced by Jupiter Film and distributed by CJ Entertainment. It was released in South Korean theaters on October 23, 2008, with a total runtime of 119 minutes. The screenplay was adapted by Song Hye-jin, Jung Yoon-soo, and Ryu Hoon.

Reception and Awards

The film received recognition at several domestic award ceremonies in South Korea:

  • 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards (2008): Son Ye-jin won the award for Best Actress, and the pair of Son Ye-jin and Kim Ju-hyuk received the Best Couple award.
  • 45th Baeksang Arts Awards (2009): Son Ye-jin received the award for Best Actress.

The film was also screened at the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival in 2009.
