My Sassy Girl (2017 South Korean Television Series)

My Sassy Girl is a South Korean television series that premiered on SBS on May 29, 2017, and concluded on July 18, 2017. The series is a historical reimagining of the 2001 film of the same name, shifting the narrative to the Joseon Dynasty period. It follows the romance between a cold-hearted scholar, Gyun-Woo, and the mischievous Princess Hyemyung.

Production

The series was directed by Oh Jin-Seok and written by Yoon Hyo-Je. Filming for the production began in August 2016 and concluded on March 7, 2017. The drama served as the final acting project for lead actor Joo Won prior to his mandatory military enlistment, which commenced on May 16, 2017.

The casting process for the lead actress involved a public audition phase, with ten finalists announced on May 31, 2016. While Kim Joo-Hyun was initially selected for the role, she ultimately did not participate in the final production.
