My Perfect Stranger

My Perfect Stranger, also known by its literal title Run Into You or Met You By Chance, is a South Korean television series that aired on KBS2 from May 1 to June 20, 2023. The series combines elements of time travel and mystery, following two individuals who find themselves transported back to the year 1987.

Plot

The story centers on Yoon Hae-Joon (Kim Dong-Wook), a calm and professional news anchor who began his career as a local reporter. His life intersects with Baek Yoon-Young (Jin Ki-Joo), a woman working at a publishing company who struggles with the pressures of her career and her relationship with her mother. After both characters are inexplicably transported to 1987, they discover their individual missions are linked: Hae-Joon is investigating a serial murder case, while Yoon-Young attempts to prevent her parents from marrying. As they navigate the past, they realize their goals are deeply connected.

Production

The series was directed by Kang Soo-Yeon and written by Baek So-Yeon. The production held its first script reading in April 2022. The show occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:50 time slot on KBS2, following the conclusion of the drama Oasis and preceding Heartbeat.
