My Lovely Boxer

My Lovely Boxer (Korean: 순정복서; RR: Soonjungboxer) is a South Korean television series that aired on KBS2 from August 21 to October 2, 2023. The drama, which consists of 12 episodes, was directed by Choi Sang-Yeol and Hong Eun-Mi, with a screenplay by Kim Min-Joo. It is based on the novel Soonjungboxer Leekwonsook by Chu Jong-Nam, published in 2014.

Plot

The story follows Kim Tae-Young, a sports agent known for his cold-blooded approach to managing talent. He is adept at recruiting promising athletes and maximizing their earnings before they face burnout. When one of his clients, the baseball pitcher Kim Hee-Won, finds himself in a precarious situation, Kim Tae-Young is tasked with locating Lee Kwon-Sook, a former elite boxer who disappeared from the public eye three years prior. At age 17, Lee Kwon-Sook was an undefeated sensation who significantly boosted the popularity of boxing before abruptly retiring. Kim Tae-Young attempts to persuade her to return to the ring to resolve his client's crisis.

Production

The series occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:50 time slot on KBS2, following the conclusion of Heartbeat. It was subsequently followed by The Matchmakers. During its broadcast, the airing schedule for episode 10 was adjusted; it was originally scheduled for September 19, 2023, but was delayed to September 25, 2023, due to the broadcast of a soccer match between South Korea and Kuwait during the 19th Asian Games.
