My Captain, Mr. Underground (Korean: 마이 캡틴, 김대출; RR: Mai Kaeptin, Kim Dae Chul) is a 2006 South Korean comedy-drama film directed and written by Song Chang-su. The film was released on April 20, 2006, and features a runtime of 104 minutes.

Plot

The story follows Dae-chul, a grave robber who successfully steals a valuable Buddha statue. His plans are complicated when two children, Ji-min and Byung-oh, steal the artifact from him as a prank. To recover the statue, Dae-chul deceives the children by claiming to be a special agent working for the Ministry of National Treasures. He convinces them to assist him in a supposed mission of justice. Throughout their journey, the trio encounters various mishaps, eventually developing a surrogate family-like bond.

Production

The film was produced by Zininsa Film and distributed by Studio 2.0. It was produced with a budget of approximately US$ 2.5 million.
