My Boy (Korean: 마이보이; RR: Mai Boi) is a 2014 South Korean drama film written and directed by Jeon Kyu-Hwan. The film explores themes of grief, responsibility, and the emotional maturation of a child facing the impending loss of a sibling.

Plot

The story centers on Yi-Cheon (played by Lee Suk-Chul), a young boy who has spent much of his life assisting his mother in caring for his terminally ill younger brother, Yoo-Cheon (Joo Wang-Byul). Struggling to process the reality of his brother's condition, Yi-Cheon experiences a moment of profound guilt following a mistake. In an attempt to cope with his complex emotions, he takes his brother on a journey in his wheelchair, leading to a series of transformative experiences.

Production and Release

My Boy was produced by Choi Mi-Ae with cinematography by Kim Nam-Gyun. The film had its world premiere at the 18th Busan International Film Festival in October 2013. It was subsequently released in South Korean theaters on April 10, 2014. The film has a runtime of 99 minutes.
