Mountain Doctor (Japanese: マウンテンドクター) is a Japanese television drama series that aired in 2024. The series focuses on the intersection of emergency medicine and mountain rescue operations, set against the backdrop of the mountainous terrain in Nagano Prefecture.
Plot
The story follows Ayumu Miyamoto, an orthopedic surgeon who returns to his hometown in Nagano Prefecture to work at a local general hospital. Upon his arrival, he is assigned to the hospital's mountain medical treatment team. This specialized unit is tasked with providing medical care to individuals who suffer injuries or illnesses while in the mountains. The role requires medical professionals to possess both clinical expertise and specialized knowledge of mountain environments. Initially, Miyamoto lacks enthusiasm for his mountain rescue duties, but his perspective shifts as he gains experience and collaborates with his team members. Alongside him is Gakuto Emori, a skilled circulatory physician who also serves on the team while grappling with personal trauma from his past.
