More Than Blue (2009 Film)

More Than Blue (Korean: 슬픔보다 더 슬픈 이야기; RR: Seulpeum Boda Deo Seulpon Iyagi) is a 2009 South Korean romantic melodrama directed by poet and lyricist Won Tae-Yeon. The film, which explores themes of terminal illness and self-sacrifice, was released in South Korea on March 12, 2009.

Plot

The story follows K (played by Kwon Sang-Woo), a radio producer who discovers he has a terminal illness. Deeply in love with his close friend Cream (Lee Bo-Young), K learns that Cream's greatest fear is being left alone. To protect her from the pain of his impending death, he conceals his condition and encourages her to find a stable partner. He eventually orchestrates a situation for her to meet and fall in love with a dentist named Cha Ju-Hwan (Lee Beom-Soo).

Production

The film was directed and written by Won Tae-Yeon. During the casting process, actress Choi Song-Hyeon was originally selected for the role of Je-Na. However, due to scheduling conflicts with the film Insadong Scandal, she was replaced by Jeong Ae-Yeon.
