Moment of Eighteen

Moment of Eighteen (Korean: 열여덟의 순간; RR: Yeolyeodeolui Soongan) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the JTBC network in 2019. The series explores the lives, emotional struggles, and growth of 18-year-old students.

Plot

The story follows Choi Joon-woo, an 18-year-old who has become accustomed to loneliness. Despite his difficulty in expressing emotions, he possesses a gentle nature. His life begins to change after he transfers to a new school. There, he encounters Yoo Soo-bin, a high-achieving student whose life is heavily managed by her mother, and who harbors a desire for independence. The narrative also focuses on Ma Whi-young, a student who maintains a facade of perfection while struggling with deep-seated insecurities and a complex personality. The interactions between these three characters drive the central themes of the series.

Production

The series was directed by Sim Na-yeon and written by Yoon Kyung-ah. The first script reading for the production was held in April 2019 at the JTBC Building in Sangam, Seoul. The drama consisted of 16 episodes and was broadcast on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:30, premiering on July 22, 2019, and concluding on September 10, 2019. It occupied the time slot previously held by The Wind Blows and was succeeded by Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.
