Missing You (2016 South Korean Film)

Missing You (Korean: 널 기다리며; RR: Neol Gidarimyeo) is a 2016 South Korean suspense-thriller film written and directed by Mo Hong-Jin. The film explores themes of vengeance and justice, centered on a young woman who has spent years waiting for the release of the man who murdered her father.

Plot

The story follows Hee-Joo (played by Shim Eun-Kyung), whose father, a detective, was murdered when she was seven years old. The perpetrator, Ki-Bum (Kim Sung-Oh), was apprehended but convicted for only one murder. Fifteen years later, Ki-Bum is released from prison. Detective Dae-Young (Yoon Je-Moon), who worked alongside Hee-Joo's father on the original investigation, remains determined to secure a murder conviction for the crimes. Meanwhile, Hee-Joo has spent the intervening years patiently waiting for the day of Ki-Bum's release.

Production

The film was directed and written by Mo Hong-Jin. Principal photography commenced on December 22, 2014, and concluded on March 29, 2015. During its development, the film was known by the working title The Wait.
