Midnight Runners (2017 Film)

Midnight Runners (Korean: 청년경찰; RR: Chungnyeongyungchal) is a 2017 South Korean action-comedy film written and directed by Kim Joo-Hwan. The film follows two students at the Korean National Police University who become entangled in a criminal investigation after witnessing a kidnapping.

Plot

Ki-Joon (Park Seo-Jun) and Hee-Yeol (Kang Ha-Neul) are new students at the Korean National Police University. While they are not the top students in their class, they demonstrate dedication and sincerity when faced with real-world challenges. During an evening out, the two cadets witness a young woman being kidnapped. After encountering bureaucratic apathy when attempting to report the crime through official channels, they decide to conduct their own investigation to rescue the victim.

Production

Principal photography for Midnight Runners commenced on November 21, 2016, in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Filming concluded on February 23, 2017. The film was distributed by Lotte Entertainment and released in South Korea on August 9, 2017.
