Memoir of a Murderer (2017 Film)

Memoir of a Murderer (Korean: 살인자의 기억법; RR: Salinjaui Gieokbeob) is a 2017 South Korean crime thriller film directed by Won Shin-Yeon. The film is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by author Kim Young-Ha.

Plot

The story follows Kim Byeong-Soo, a former serial killer who now lives with his adult daughter, Eun-Hee, while suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's disease. His life takes a dark turn when he encounters a man following a car accident and realizes that the individual is also a serial killer. As this man, Min Tae-Joo, begins to pursue a romantic relationship with Eun-Hee, Byeong-Soo struggles to protect his daughter while fighting the rapid deterioration of his own memory.

Production

The film was directed by Won Shin-Yeon, who also contributed to the screenplay alongside Hwang Jo-Yoon. The production was based on the novel Salinjaui Gieokbeob, published by Munhakdongne Publishers on July 25, 2013. Principal photography for the film commenced on October 30, 2015, and concluded on January 30, 2016.
