May It Please the Court (Korean: 변론을 시작하겠습니다; RR: Byeonloneul Shijakhagekseubmida) is a South Korean legal drama series that premiered in 2022. The series was directed by Kang Min-ku and written by Kim Dan, based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Jung Hye-jin.
Plot
The story follows No Chak-hee, an ambitious attorney at a prominent law firm known for her willingness to take any risk to secure a victory. Her career trajectory is interrupted when a legal complication forces her to transition into the role of a public defender. During her time in this new position, she is paired with Jwa Si-baek, a public defender who graduated at the top of his class from the Judicial Research and Training Institute. Despite their contrasting personalities and professional approaches, the two become entangled in a series of murder cases targeting wealthy elderly individuals.
Production
The series consists of 12 episodes and was released on the streaming platform Disney+ between September 21 and October 26, 2022. It is adapted from the novel Byeonloneul Shijakhagekseubmida, which was published by Miraeuichang on December 6, 2019.
