May I Help You (South Korean TV Series)
May I Help You (Korean: 일당백집사; RR: Ildangbaekjibsa) is a South Korean television series that aired on MBC from October 19 to December 22, 2022. The drama, which consists of 16 episodes, was directed by Sim So-Yeon and Park Sun-Young, with a screenplay written by Lee Sun-Hye.
Plot
The series follows Baek Dong-Joo (played by Hyeri), a funeral director who possesses the supernatural ability to see and communicate with the spirits of the deceased. These spirits often task her with fulfilling their final wishes. If she fails to grant these requests, she experiences a string of bad luck. To manage these tasks, she collaborates with Kim Tae-Hee (played by Lee Jun-Young), an employee at an errand service company called A Dime A Job, which is managed by his uncle, Vincent (Lee Gyu-Han).
Production and Broadcast
The series occupied the Wednesday and Thursday 21:50 time slot on MBC, succeeding the drama On The Verge Of Insanity. The broadcast schedule experienced two notable interruptions due to external events:
- National Mourning Period: Episodes 5 and 6 were delayed by one week following the Itaewon tragedy that occurred on October 29, 2022.
- FIFA World Cup: Episodes 9 and 10 were rescheduled from their original November dates to November 30 and December 1, 2022, to accommodate the broadcasting of 2022 FIFA World Cup matches.
