Masahiro Motoki
Masahiro Motoki (born December 12, 1965) is a prominent Japanese actor. Born in Okegawa, Saitama, he began his career in the entertainment industry as a member of the idol group Shibugakitai before transitioning into a successful career in film and television.

Career
Motoki gained significant critical acclaim for his performance in the 2008 film Departures (Okuribito). His portrayal of a cellist who becomes a traditional mortician earned him several accolades, including the Best Actor award at the 3rd Asian Film Awards and the Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in 2009.
Throughout his career, he has appeared in a diverse range of projects, including Sumo Do, Sumo Don't (1992), Shall We Dance? (1996), and The Long Excuse (2016). His television work includes roles in NHK taiga dramas such as Awaiting Kirin (2020), where he portrayed Toshimasa (Dosan) Saito.
Personal Life
Masahiro Motoki is married to Yayako Uchida. His family ties include his mother-in-law, the late actress Kirin Kiki, and his father-in-law, the musician Yuya Uchida.
