Marriage Blue (2013 Film)

Marriage Blue (Korean: 결혼전야; RR: Gyeolhonjeonya) is a 2013 South Korean ensemble romantic comedy film directed by Hong Ji-Young. The film explores the personal anxieties, doubts, and conflicts experienced by four couples during the final week leading up to their respective wedding ceremonies.

Plot

The narrative follows four distinct couples as they face various obstacles before their nuptials:

Tae-Kyu and Joo-Young: Tae-Kyu, a former professional baseball player turned minor league coach, struggles with jealousy and feelings of betrayal after discovering that his fiancée, Joo-Young, a successful urologist, is a divorcee.
So-Mi and Won-Cheol: After seven years together, So-Mi, a nail artist, begins to question the nature of her relationship with Chef Won-Cheol, feeling that their connection lacks emotional depth. While attending a competition on Jeju Island, she encounters a webcomic writer named Kyung-Soo.
Gun-Ho and Vika: Gun-Ho, a flower shop owner, experiences sudden impotency, which he attributes to stress. His insecurity leads him to suspect that his younger fiancée, Vika, is only marrying him to obtain South Korean citizenship.
Dae-Bok and Yi-Ra: Following the news of an unexpected pregnancy, Dae-Bok, who works at Joo-Young's clinic, proposes to his girlfriend, Yi-Ra, a wedding planner. However, the couple finds themselves in a cycle of frequent arguments during their wedding preparations.

Production

The film was directed by Hong Ji-Young, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Go Myung-Joo. Principal photography for the project commenced in April 2013 and concluded on June 26, 2013. The film was distributed by Cinus Entertainment and released in South Korea on November 21, 2013.
