Mantis (2025 Film)

Mantis (Korean: 사마귀; RR: Samagwi) is a 2025 South Korean action film directed by Lee Tae-Seong. The film is a spin-off of the 2023 action film Kill Boksoon, expanding upon the world of contract killers established in the original production. It was released on the streaming platform Netflix on September 26, 2025.

Plot

The story follows an elite assassin known as Mantis, who returns from a vacation to discover that Cha Min-Kyu, the head of the organization MK Enterprise, has died. Seeking a change in his career, Mantis attempts to depart from the company to pursue new opportunities alongside fellow contract killers. He maintains a long-standing relationship with Jae-Yi, a lethal assassin who trained with him but was dismissed from MK Enterprise after falling out of favor with the organization's leadership. Meanwhile, Dokgo, one of the founders of MK Enterprise and a former mentor to Mantis, emerges from retirement to take control of the company following the power vacuum left by Cha Min-Kyu's death. Dokgo actively attempts to recruit Mantis back into the fold.

Production

Mantis was directed by Lee Tae-Seong, who also contributed to the screenplay alongside Byun Sung-Hyun and Lee Jin-Seong. The film was produced by Choi Bo-Ram with cinematography by Kim Joo-In. It has a total runtime of 113 minutes.
