Lucky Romance (Korean: 운빨로맨스) is a South Korean television series that aired on MBC from May 25 to July 14, 2016. The drama, which consists of 16 episodes, was broadcast in the Wednesday and Thursday 22:00 time slot. It followed the series Goodbye Mr. Black and was succeeded by W.
Background and Development
The series is based on the webcomic Woonbbalromaenseu by Kim Dal-Nim, which was serialized on Naver Webtoon from February 15, 2014, to November 22, 2014. The television adaptation was directed by Kim Kyung-Hee, with the screenplay written by Choi Yoon-Kyo. The production held its first script reading on April 6, 2016, at the MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea.
Plot
The story follows Sim Bo-Nui (Hwang Jung-Eum), a woman who works multiple part-time jobs to support her younger sister, Bo-Ra (Kim Ji-Min), who has been in a vegetative state following a car accident. Influenced by a fortune teller, Bo-Nui becomes deeply superstitious, believing that her fate brings misfortune to those around her. When her sister's condition deteriorates, the fortune teller informs her that she must spend a night with a man born in 1986—the year of the tiger—to save her sister's life.
Bo-Nui encounters Je Soo-Ho (Ryu Jun-Yeol), the brilliant but arrogant CEO of Zeze Game Company. After a series of unpleasant run-ins, Bo-Nui discovers that Soo-Ho was born in 1986, leading her to pursue him in an attempt to fulfill the fortune teller's requirement.
