Love in the Big City (2024 Film)
Love in the Big City (Korean: 대도시의 사랑법; RR: Daedoshiui Sarangbeob) is a 2024 South Korean film directed by Lee Eon-hee. The film is based on the short story "Jaehee" from the collection Love in the Big City by author Park Sang-young, which was published by Changbi in 2019.
Plot
The story follows the unlikely friendship between Jae-hee (Kim Go-eun), a free-spirited university student who lives life on her own terms, and Heung-soo (Noh Sang-hyun), a student who keeps his identity as a gay man a secret. Their lives intersect when Jae-hee accidentally discovers Heung-soo's secret. This revelation leads to an unexpected bond, eventually resulting in the two becoming roommates and navigating the complexities of life and relationships together.
Production and Release
The film was directed by Lee Eon-hee with a screenplay by Kim Na-deul. It held its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2024, followed by a theatrical release in South Korea on October 1, 2024. The film has a runtime of 118 minutes and was distributed by Megabox Plus M.

At the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards held on November 29, 2024, Noh Sang-hyun received the award for Best New Actor for his performance in the film. The production also received an award for Best Music.
