Lee Won-tae

Lee Won-tae is a South Korean film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is recognized for his contributions to both cinema and television, having directed notable crime and historical dramas.

Career

Lee Won-tae began his career in the film industry with roles in production and screenwriting. He served as a producer for the 2011 film Spellbound. As a screenwriter, he contributed to the 2015 film The Magician, credited for the original story, and later wrote the screenplay for his 2019 directorial feature The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil.

His directorial debut in feature films was Man of Will (2017), a historical drama. He gained international attention for the action-crime film The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil (2019), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2023, he directed the crime-drama film The Devil's Deal. In the same year, he expanded his work into television, directing the SBS drama series Payback: Money and Power.
