Lee Sang-Yeob (Television Director)

Lee Sang-Yeob (Hangul: 이상엽) is a South Korean television series director known for helming numerous drama series for major networks and streaming platforms such as MBC, tvN, TVING, and Netflix.

Career and Major Works

Lee has directed a wide variety of television dramas spanning romance, fantasy, and melodrama since the late 2000s. His early television credits include working on series such as What's for Dinner? (2009), Lights and Shadows (2011), and the historical drama The King's Daughter, Soo Baek-Hyang (2013). In 2011, he also directed the MBC television movie The Peak.

Throughout the 2010s and 2020s, Lee expanded his portfolio with notable romance and comedy series. He directed Shopaholic Louis (2016) and the fantasy romance Familiar Wife (2018) for tvN. In 2020, he directed the Netflix science fiction romance series My Holo Love alongside the tvN drama A Piece of Your Mind.

Lee achieved significant recognition for directing the multi-season adaptation of the webtoon Yumi's Cells. He directed the first season on tvN and TVING in 2021, followed by the second season on TVING in 2022, and continued his association with the franchise into subsequent projects.
