Korean Peninsula (Korean: 한반도; RR: Hanbando) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network TV Chosun from February 6 to April 3, 2012. The series consists of 18 episodes and was broadcast on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Plot

The story is set in a near-future scenario where relations between South Korea and North Korea have improved, leading to a joint project to develop a methane hydrate extraction station off the North Korean coast. The project is led by South Korean scientist Seo Myung-joon (played by Hwang Jung-min) and North Korean scientist Lim Jin-jae (played by Kim Jung-eun). While the scientists and technicians from both nations collaborate, political tensions persist. The narrative explores the professional and personal relationship between Seo and Lim, who first met a decade prior to the project's inception.

Production

The series was broadcast on TV Chosun, a cable channel that launched on October 3, 2011. The production experienced changes during its development phase; notably, Im Seul-ong, who was initially scheduled to portray the National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Kang Dong-won, withdrew from the project due to scheduling conflicts.
