Koo Kyo-Hwan

Koo Kyo-Hwan (born December 14, 1982) is a South Korean actor and filmmaker. Known for his distinct acting style and versatility across independent and mainstream productions, he has gained recognition through numerous film and television roles.

Career

Koo has appeared in a wide array of feature films and television series. His early cinematic appearances include minor and supporting roles in works such as Castaway on the Moon (2009) and A Werewolf Boy (2012). He earned broader critical attention for his performance in the indie film Jane (2017), which won him the Best New Actor award at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2018.

In subsequent years, Koo transitioned into prominent mainstream projects. He appeared as Captain Seo Dae-Wi in Peninsula (2020) and North Korean intelligence officer Tae Joon-Ki in Escape from Mogadishu (2021). His television breakthrough came through the Netflix military drama series D.P. (2021–2023) in the role of Corporal Han Ho-Yeol, earning him a Best New Actor award at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards.

His later credits include notable roles in streaming series and films such as Kingdom: Ashin of the North (2021), Monstrous (2022), Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022), Kill Boksoon (2023), Parasyte: The Grey (2024), and Escape (2024).
