Kongsudo (Korean: 공수도) is a 2020 South Korean action-comedy film directed by Chae Yeo-Jun. The film centers on the themes of personal growth and resilience through martial arts.

Plot

The story follows Jong-Goo (played by Oh Seung-Hoon), a high school student known for his gentle and righteous nature. Frequently targeted by school bullies, his life changes after he is rescued during an altercation by his classmate, Chae-Young (Jung Da-Eun). Chae-Young is a skilled practitioner of karate, a discipline she learned from her father, who operates a local gym. Inspired by her ability to defend herself, Jong-Goo decides to enroll in the gym. He is joined by another student, Hae-Sung (Son Woo-Hyun). Together, the three characters navigate their personal challenges and develop their skills through the practice of karate.

Production

The film was directed by Chae Yeo-Jun, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Lee Won-Bin. The production was managed by Kwak Dong-Hak, with cinematography by Jung Jae-Eun. The film has a runtime of 112 minutes and was released in South Korea on April 9, 2020.
