King the Land

King the Land is a South Korean television series that aired on the JTBC network in 2023. The romantic comedy follows the lives of Gu Won, a chaebol heir, and Cheon Sa-rang, a hotel employee, as they navigate professional challenges and personal growth within the King Group conglomerate.

Plot

Gu Won, played by Lee Joon-ho, is a member of a wealthy family that owns and operates the King Group. He finds himself embroiled in an intense inheritance battle within the company. Characterized as intelligent and elegant, Gu Won struggles with interpersonal relationships and has a deep-seated aversion to fake smiles. His life intersects with Cheon Sa-rang, portrayed by Lim Yoon-a, a bright and cheerful employee at the King Hotel. The hotel holds significant sentimental value for Sa-rang, as it is the site of many of her cherished childhood memories. As she faces the various demands and difficulties of her career, she and Gu Won develop a romantic connection.

Production and Broadcast

The series was directed by Im Hyun-wook and written by Choi Rom. It consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast on JTBC from June 17 to August 6, 2023. The show occupied the Saturday and Sunday 22:30 time slot, succeeding the series Doctor Cha and preceding Behind Your Touch.
